I had the pleasure of interviewing Brandy last year at a charity event in NYC. She was gorgeous, happy, and really kind. I know she's been through hell 'cause of her car accident and I hope her new album is full of sad ballads geared towards making others feel better.

I saw Brandi Carlile perform a few weeks ago w/Indigo Girls in Long Beach. It was an amazing show which words could not possibly describe. Great time was had celebrating my friends same sex wedding anniversary and soon to be "legal" marriage, so good I didn't scan the crowd. Would have seen a favorite cousin in the audience with her partner, so cool! The stupid foul atm's broke at the theater so I had nothing for Brandi to sign when she came out and was horrified. I excused myself to the back of the lobby, all stormy inside when she happened to walk by after. Shocked, all I could muster was, "You're cool, great" and a giant smile. She said thanks, smiled and kept going before the crowd turned collective heads to follow. I wanted to ask her if she wanted to watch some tv, but it seemed a bit forward. :D

February 18, 2007 -- IT was Sting's brilliant idea to bring The Police back together for their 30th anniversary, sources say, despite interviews he and band members Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers gave suggesting it was a mutual idea.

One music-industry heavyweight tells Page Six: "Sting worked on Stewart and Andy for six months trying to get them to agree to tour. They didn't really want to at first. It's not like they need the money. They're set for life off of the royalties alone.

"But for some reason, Sting was insistent, telling them how much money they all could make," the source said.

To sweeten the deal, Sting "assured his former bandmates they could not only pick the song list for the tour, but that the three would share equally in profits - whereas in the past, Sting always got a higher percentage because he was the frontman.

"They finally agreed," our source said, and the group decided to kick off their reunion tour with an opening performance at the Grammys of "Roxanne."

But Copeland and Summers apparently didn't realize what they had signed on for. "Andy and Stew thought they would just do the old rock version of 'Roxanne,' " our insider said, "but when they showed up for sound check, Sting had created this weird, jazz-blues version of the song, and they kind of freaked out." Sting insisted that his version was better and sang the unexpected rendition of the 1978 hit at the Grammys - to almost everyone's dismay.

"It was hideous," said one music executive. "Lets hope the whole rest of the song sets for the tour aren't like that." - Page Six

Death of Audioslave, Solo Chris Cornell All That Matters To Me

Audioslave singer Chris Cornell has quit the short-lived "supergroup," citing "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences," he said...

Cornell, 42, who rose to fame with defunct Seattle rock group Soundgarden, will reignite his solo career with the May 1 release of "Carry On," his second solo album.

"Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors," the part-time Paris restaurateur said in a statement.

The Audioslave split was not unexpected. His colleagues, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk, have reunited with singer Zack de la Rocha to resurrect their former band Rage Against the Machine, which will play its first show in seven years at California's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 29. Rage's plans beyond this show are unknown...

...The Interscope Records release will include "You Know My Name," Cornell's main title song for the latest James Bond film "Casino Royale," as well as a cover of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." Among the brand new tunes are "No Such Thing" and "Poison Eye," both described in the statement as having a "harder edge," and the "redemptive" song "Your Soul Today."

Okereke determined to give A Weekend in the City more sign-of-the-times heft - 'to weave a tapestry of lots of different views and issues and perspectives to create an overall sense of what life in a metropolis is like in the 21st century'.

Harsh realities are also rammed home on other new songs. The words to 'Where is Home?' begin at the funeral of Christopher Alaneme, the black teenager stabbed in small-town Kent last April. Okereke describes him as a cousin, although they weren't related by blood; their mums, both Nigerian, were very good friends. Okereke says that ultimately the song is about the fostering, by right-wing newspapers, of a fear of 'The Other'. That is, black youth in hoodies. And how that then means opportunities denied.

'I just feel that every non-white teenager will know what I'm talking about when I say that certain avenues in this country are closed to you. Whenever I walk into a pub in London I feel frightened. There are certain activities that are still more predominantly white.' He and his flatmate, a white Austrian girl, have been abused by bigots who thought they were a mixed-race couple. The multicultural melting pot, Okereke concludes, is unworkable.

Does it please him, I ask, that he might be a role model for a 15-year-old Bloc Party fan in Essex who's unsure, insecure?

'I guess that's the only reason [to speak out], isn't it?' he says. 'To speak to young people in their impressionable formative years - and say something that could help them make sense of their lives. Lessen the sense of alienation and isolation that they might have. I think that's something that definitely ... I'd be proud of. That we could say that there are alternative ways of behaving, of living one's life.'

He goes on to cite a quote from groundbreaking lesbian novel The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall - it had a profound impact on him when he was writing 'I Still Remember'.

It takes a couple of hours - and my telling him that he's without peer, so no wonder he's a bit all over the place - for Okereke to offer further clarification. 'Well, there are some famous bisexuals. Brian Molko [from Placebo] I guess. David Bowie. Morrissey. It's not like that this is an impulse that's... Sorry, can I just get this?' His mobile has just rung, saving him more discomfort.

The next day Okereke emails Radclyffe Hall's words to me. 'You are neither unnatural nor abominable, nor mad,' it begins. 'You're as much a part of what people call nature as anyone else, only you are unexplained as yet - you've got your niche in creation.'

He is a keen guitar player whose admiration for the Rolling Stones stretched to modelling his character, the pirate Jack Sparrow, on the mannerisms of Keith Richards.

Now the Pirates of the Caribbean star, Johnny Depp, is being lined up to play a rock star for real in a biopic of the late Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury.

Robert de Niro's company, Tribeca Productions, is said to be behind the project, which Brian May, the Queen guitarist, confirmed was in development. "Discussions are at an early stage," he said on his website.

May described Depp as "fantastic". "He would be a worthy counterpart for Freddie on screen. I don't think I can say any more right now," he added...- Independent UK
