I wake up to Indie every day.

Hearing Dicky bitch has gotten me through a LOT of horrible mornings, and I enjoy his show even more than the lovable meanderings of Jonesy.

I truly believe it was Dicky's courageous stand against the abortion ban in South Dakota that got him the boot. To have a woman from the region on the show speaking in a VERY balanced way re: the abortion bill on a morning show is fucking fearless, and I'm damn proud to be a Dicky fan.

It's really just straight up fucking stupid of them, Indie fans being independently minded as they are and prone to rebell at any given moment.

See folks? Closeted Folks are CRAZY

R. Kelly's Not So Brotherly Love

By Sarah Hall1 hour, 38 minutes ago

R. Kelly's brother, Carey, believes he can't lie.

The "Trapped in the Closet" singer's younger sibling has released a low-budget DVD on which he accuses his brother of trying to get him to commit perjury, according to MTV News.

According to Carey Kelly, his brother wanted him to take the fall by claiming that he was actually the star of the infamous sex tape that prompted child-pornography charges against R. Kelly.

On the DVD, released Tuesday, Carey Kelly alleges that his more famous brother offered him $50,000, a house and a record contract if he would agree to testify that he appeared on the tape, but that he turned the offer down because he did not want to lie.

"I got a call about a year and a half ago," Carey claims on the DVD, produced by Drahma Magazine. "My brother wanted me to do some s--t pertaining to this case that would leave me behind bars with a record deal. It doesn't make sense, so I turned it down.

"Since I couldn't lie for him in a court of law, we're back to beefing again, and we ain't brothers no more."

The rumor that R. Kelly planned to finger his look-alike brother as the star of the sex tape first circulated several years back, but the R&B star's lawyers denied that the ploy was part of their defense strategy.

Carey Kelly also claims that his brother beats his wife, Andrea; tried to molest their other brother's daughter; molested their 12-year-old second cousin; and--oh yeah--that he's bisexual.

"He trapped in the closet for real," Carey Kelly said in a radio interview with New York's Hot 97.

While filming Black. White. for FX

Did I ever want to strangle Bruno from FX's Black. White?
Was a reply, decided to make it a post! (X-posted from somewhere else, can you guess where?!)

Bruno was very kind to me throughout the entire shoot. He, Carmen and Rose are still and will always be close to my heart. Coming from a multi-cultural background (both my parents married white after having me) I already seen white folk embarrass themselves a bit, but I saw much of Bruno's comments to be based in a desire to KNOW and really try and understand.

For many who come from an immigrant background, the African American struggle against racism seems less than real. Overt racism doesn't exist as much we can all agree...but for the most part the separate but equal segregation (at times self-segregation) that has sprung into our midst = the new racism. I highly suggest a great book, How the Irish Became White, for in depth analysis of what the American Melting Pot really means.

So, no I never wanted to strangle Bruno. Even when he said comments I didn't agree with, like recently I heard him remark that reverse racism might be the same as regular old run of the mill "majority rules" racism. I disagree. BUT, that he asks the question makes my heart soar, because here is the answer to the question folks! Asking!

Opening a discourse!
Having arguments!
Finding a way to see how we are the same EVEN AS we embrace our differences.
This is possible...and hopefully you and I / all of us can lead the way.

Here’s a lil poem then,

I HAPPILY CROSS THE LINE AGAIN AND AGAIN
A year later the nine public pools in Baton Rouge closed after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that segregation of park facilities was unconstitutional.

"It was all so long ago.
I never oppressed anyone.
My parents never oppressed anyone.
We didn't own slaves..."

It's not about that, I reiterate.

Remember the swimming pools that your parents may have frolicked in?
A nice dinner out,
trips to museums,
to church,
to the ballpark,
to the zoo?

There too if allowed,
African Americans were in the back,
came during "colored hours",
waited in the "colored line",
sat in "the colored section",
and lived lives entirely at another's discretion

Where no lines could be drawn?
Swimming pools and schools.
Places of unsure action
where friends and comrades might be made

Remember to celebrate MLK Day
and enlightenment itself
difference and betterment
for, by and to
both white and black
We celebrate for that

'Entourage' Gang Dishes on Fame and Family

The team behind the Hollywood hit reflects on the HBO comedy's true message at the Paley Festival

By Daniel Fienberg

March 2 2006

Jeremy Piven, 'Entourage'
Jeremy Piven of 'Entourage'
LOS ANGELES --
"Entourage," the HBO comedy about a group of friends flying by the seat of their pants in the face of Hollywood fame, is, apparently, flying by the seat of its pants creatively as well.

Facing questions about the show's upcoming 20-episode third season, "Entourage" creator Doug Ellin repeatedly told the crowd at the Museum of Television and Radio's annual Paley Festival that he's usually too busy trying to get each individual episode right to know where the series is going long-term. Even when the crowd at the Wednesday (March 1) event tried to compliment Ellin on the show's richer second season, he would barely take credit.

"There was definitely no design to make it more full in the second season, but the first season I had really no idea what I was doing," Ellin says.

Among the things that Ellin admitted happened by chance include last season's extended "Aquaman" arc, in which rising star Vinnie Chase (Adrian Grenier) scored the lead in James Cameron's film version of the comic franchise. What could have been a toss-off joke, took up a season's worth of negotiations, training and screen tests, a plausible production instead of a joke.

"When you think of the movie 'Aquaman,' it sounds kind of bad," Ellin notes, "But when you go 'James Cameron's Aquaman' ..."

PETE! Move in with Ozzy!

Ozzy Osbourne has expressed his sympathy to Pete Doherty and says that he would help the troubled Babyshambles frontman.

Osbourne once called Doherty “A little fucking junkie” and says he now takes those comments back and admits Pete needs help.

He said: “I’ve been to the pits of hell with addiction and although it’s fucking me off to see him fucking up his life, I’d help him in a minute if he asked.

Sharon was a rock to me and if he came to stay with us she’d sort him.”

As The Star reports, he continued: “Why the fuck isn’t anyone helping the boy? It’s not entertaining to watch.”

MySpace.com to bolster security measures

CEO says company to add technology to screen how site used

BOSTON - MySpace.com, the online virtual-community run by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., will soon add technology to screen how its 60 million members use the Web site to prevent crime, the company’s chief executive said on Thursday.

He discussed the enhanced security plan in an interview, several hours after federal authorities announced the arrests of two men charged with using MySpace to arrange illegal sexual encounters with minors.

MySpace chief executive Chris DeWolfe declined to discuss the arrests or say how specifically the new security technology will work. The company will give details in an announcement in the coming weeks, he said.

Calif. middle-school student faces expulsion over alleged threat on Web site

The Associated Press
Updated: 11:37 a.m. ET March 3, 2006

COSTA MESA, Calif. - A middle school student faces expulsion for allegedly posting graphic threats against a classmate on the popular MySpace.com Web site, and 20 of his classmates were suspended for viewing the posting, school officials said.

Police are investigating the boy’s comments about his classmate at TeWinkle Middle School as a possible hate crime, and the district is trying to expel him.

According to three parents of the suspended students, the invitation to join the boy’s MySpace group gave no indication of the alleged threat. They said the MySpace social group name’s was “I hate (girl’s name)” and included an expletive and an anti-Semitic reference.

A later message to group members directed them to a nondescript folder, which included a posting that allegedly asked: “Who here in the (group name) wants to take a shotgun and blast her in the head over a thousand times?”

Because the creator of a posting can change its content at any time, it’s unclear how much the students saw.

“With what the students can get into using the technology we are all concerned about it,” Bob Metz, the district assistant superintendent of secondary education, said Wednesday.

Metz said the students’ suspensions in mid-February were appropriate because the incident involved student safety. Some parents however questioned whether the school overstepped its bounds by disciplining students for actions that occurred on personal computers, at home and after school hours.

Carol Burnett Hooks Up with Housewives

Carol Burnett Hooks Up with Housewives

Thursday Mar 02, 2006 4:00pm EST
By Todd Peterson

Carol Burnett is getting Desperate. The legendary funnywoman is
joining the cast of Desperate Housewives as Eleanor Mason, the
stepmother of Bree Van De Kamp, played by Marcia Cross, USA Today
reports.

Burnett said she thought the opportunity would be "a hoot." "I'm a
soap opera fan. I've watched All My Children for a hundred years, and
this, too, is a very campy soap," she said.

For Burnett, the role provided a chance to play against character, and
she requested that series creator Marc Cherry make Mason "meaner."
"It's more fun to have those villainous takes – like Miss Hannigan,"
Burnett said, referencing her role in the 1982 film "Annie."

Burnett's character is described a classic evil stepmother, who raised
the young Bree after her mother was killed, says Cherry. "She's a very
tightly wound, proper lady for whom appearances mean everything." The
role will likely shed some light on why Bree has turned out as she
has.

For Cherry, the chance to cast Burnett is a dream come true. "I
learned how to be funny watching Carol Burnett," he said.

Mason's appearance coincides with the unleashing of family secrets by
Bree's son, Andrew, who is trying to gain emancipation from his
mother. "Andrew is bringing up all sorts of family secrets, and they
want it stopped," Cherry told USA Today.

Burnett is scheduled for one episode of Housewives, on April 9, though
no one has ruled out a return visit for season three.

BUFFY RETURNS?

Whedon: 'Buffy' May Return

Writer/director Joss Whedon has hinted his cult TV creations "Buffy the
Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" could be making a comeback.

The series creator says there are talks of home entertainment or miniseries
continuations of the Sarah Michelle Gellar-starring series and its spin-off.

He says, "We've been discussing how to do things with a different format --
maybe something straight to DVD that wouldn't be a full series. There are
various characters that I'd want to explore further."

So I Don't Have The Edge...Oscar Noms according to Astrology

NY POST/By SALLY BROMPTON - Post Astrologer
INDIVIDUALS with their sun in a fire sign (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius)
are born enthusiasts, success-orientated, and the people who will set
the world on fire. So it is not surprising that seven of this year's 10
Oscar nominees for the Best Actor and Best Actress were born under fire
signs. But the stars are truly aligned for two actors this year -Philip
Seymour Hoffman and Reese Witherspoon.

BEST ACTOR
The Winner - Philip Seymour Hoffman, "Capote"
July 23, 1967 - LEO
Jupiter aspects are common in the horoscopes of actors, and Hoffman's
sun-Jupiter conjunction in larger-than-life Leo certainly gave him an
edge in getting to grips with real-life Truman Capote's monumental ego.
But it is Hoffman's Mars in Scorpio that brings actor and author
together in the story of the latter's international best seller "In
Cold Blood," a groundbreaking "nonfiction novel" about a brutal
multiple murder in Kansas. Mars in Scorpio is associated with violence,
but can also be cunning and manipulative, words not infrequently used
about Capote himself. Hoffman ("Boogie Nights," "Red Dragon") certainly
seems to have an affinity for the dark side. Saturn, planet of
restriction but also rewards, moved into his birth sign in July 2005
and remains there throughout 2006, so Oscar success - a reward for hard
work - is very much in the stars.

Heath Ledger, "Brokeback Mountain"
April 4, 1979 - ARIES
A combination of masculinity and sensitivity was needed for the part of
Ennis Del Mar, who carries on a long-term homosexual relationship with
fellow cowboy Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal). His Aries sun and
Mars-Mercury conjunction means there is no doubting Heath's manliness,
but the union falls in sympathetic Pisces, which, with a moon-Jupiter
link in compassionate Cancer, gives the right combination to carry it
off. With the changeable moon so strong in his chart, Heath will
continue to attract a wide range of roles, but a star-making persona
may elude him, a fact his Aries ego may find hard to take.

Joaquin Phoenix, "Walk the Line"
Oct. 28, 1974 - SCORPIO
Joaquin Phoenix's triple conjunction of the sun, Mars and Venus in
passionate Scorpio makes a perfect angle to a triple union of the sun,
Mars and Mercury in sensitive Pisces in the chart of country legend
Johnny Cash. This role was made for him. Phoenix's star will rise ever
higher over the next few years, although there is enough variation and
intelligence (Mercury-Uranus in Libra) in his chart to suggest that he
won't accept being typecast.

David Strathairn, "Good Night, and Good Luck"
Jan. 26, 1949 - AQUARIUS
David Strathairn has an "actor's aspect" - moon-Jupiter - in the
hardworking sign of Capricorn, and with more than 80 movie and TV
credits, as well as considerable stage experience, will continue to be
in demand. Superstardom may have eluded Strathairn, but that won't
worry him one bit - as a sun-sign Aquarius, he doesn't need the
adulation that drives the egos at the beginning of the zodiac. As one
of his peers put it: "It's all about work and not about him."

Terrence Howard, "Hustle & Flow"
March 11, 1969 - PISCES
The highlight of Terrence Howard's horoscope is a Venus-Saturn
conjunction - an aspect often found in the charts of talented artists -
in the go-getting sign of Aries. Venus rules and Saturn is exalted in
Libra, sign of harmony - so it is no surprise to find Howard is a
talented musician - while his Aries side gives edge to his character
DJay, a small-time Memphis pimp hoping to hit it big in the music biz.
There is also a quirky side to Howard's horoscope that suggests more
varied roles in future, most likely around the time when transiting
Saturn sparks his Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Libra in 2009. His best
is yet to come.

Charlize Theron, "North Country"
Aug. 7, 1975 - LEO
There is something of the big cat about Charlize Theron, something
feline and powerful, befitting her Leo-dominated horoscope and her
larger-than-life presence, as well as the 30 pounds she put on for the
role that won her 2003's Best Actress Oscar -serial killer Aileen
Wuornos in "Monster." That award coincided with her coming-of-age
Saturn return, and with a hugely ambitious Mars-Saturn aspect in her
chart, too. There will undoubtedly be more success in the future for
the talented South African. However, with Mars also conjunct with the
moon's south node, she won't always get along with the Hollywood
hierarchy. Those Leo claws may come in handy!

Keira Knightley, "Pride and Prejudice"
March 26, 1985 - ARIES
The most striking thing about 20-year-old British newcomer Keira
Knightley's horoscope is the fun-loving and independent-minded aspect
between Venus/Mercury and Uranus that joins her Aries sun sign with
freedom-loving Sagittarius. One thing Keira won't ever be is
predictable, either in her private life or her choice of future roles.
However, her Taurus Mars shows great determination, as well as an
outsized capacity for hard work - although not yet 21, Keira has
notched up a considerable list of performances, including the cult
classic "Bend It Like Beckham." But as Mars also opposes Pluto, she
must watch out that the strains of stardom don't get too much for her.

BEST ACTRESS
The Winner - Reese Witherspoon, "Walk the Line"
March 22, 1976 - ARIES
"Legally Blonde" she may be, but Reese Witherspoon is anything but dumb
when it comes to the movie business, having just negotiated herself a
staggering $30 million payday for her next big project, "Our Family
Trouble." Her money sense comes from the heavy water-sign influence in
her horoscope, along with her Aries sun's natural desire to be No.1.
Reese has also recently undergone her Saturn return, the maturing
aspect that affects everyone around the age of 29, so now she is
focused and knows what she wants out of her life and her career. It
bodes well for an Oscar, too, as Saturn is the planet of well-earned
success. On top of which, Jupiter, planet of luck, has recently been
making an excellent angle to communications planet Mercury and values
planet Venus, so more good news is on its way.

Judi Dench, "Mrs. Henderson Presents"
Dec. 9, 1934 - SAGITTARIUS
British actress Dame Judi Dench's energetic Sagittarius sun is tempered
by a Venus-Saturn aspect that helps bring both grace and gravitas to
her roles. Sagittarians never slow down, and despite being in her 72nd
year, Dame Judi is unlikely to be exiting stage left any time soon, not
with go-getting Mars occupying the workaholic sign of Virgo. Retire?
Perish the thought. There may, in fact, be a very big payday coming up
soon as Jupiter, planet of good fortune, highlights her sun-Venus
conjunction early next year.

Felicity Huffman, "Transamerica"
Dec. 9, 1962 - SAGITTARIUS
Venus-Neptune aspects, as well as signifying generosity of spirit, are
sometimes linked to emotional confusion, so it's interesting to note
that Felicity Huffman, who plays preoperative transsexual Bree in
"Transamerica," has a Venus-Neptune conjunction in her horoscope - in
sex sign Scorpio, too! Like Judi Dench, whose birthday she shares,
Felicity has a Sagittarius sun, linked in her case to a very
masculine-looking Mars in Leo - an interesting combination for a woman
playing a man who wants to be a woman. A major change of direction is
signaled in about two years' time when Saturn transits Uranus, planet
of upheaval. Her interest in something outside the movie mainstream
will take center stage, at least for a while.

S.D. House Approves Abortion Ban Bill

From Yahoo! News

S.D. House Approves Abortion Ban Bill

PIERRE, S.D. - The Legislature on Friday approved a ban on nearly all
abortions in South Dakota, setting up a direct legal assault on
Roe v. Wade.

Republican Gov. Mike Rounds said he was inclined to sign the bill, which
would make it a crime for doctors to perform an abortion unless it was
necessary to save the woman's life. The measure would make no exception
in cases of rape or incest.

Many opponents and supporters of abortion rights believe the
U.S. Supreme Court is more likely to overturn its 1973 Roe v. Wade
decision legalizing abortion now that Justices John Roberts and
Samuel Alito are on the bench.

Planned Parenthood, which operates the only abortion clinic in South
Dakota, has pledged to sue over the measure, which would become law July
1. The clinic does about 800 abortions a year.

The House passed the bill 50-18 on Friday. The Senate approved the
measure 23-12 earlier this week.

Under the measure, doctors could get up to five years in prison for
performing an illegal abortion.

The governor said he believes it would be better to eliminate abortion
in a series of steps, but some abortion opponents want a court challenge
that could wipe out abortion in one fell swoop.

"I've indicated I'm pro-life and I do believe abortion is wrong, and
that we should do everything we can to save lives," Rounds said. "If
this bill accomplishes that, then I am inclined to sign the bill into
law."

During debate on the measure, lawmakers were told that an anonymous
donor has pledged to give the state $1 million to defend the abortion
ban in court. The Legislature is setting up a special account to accept
donations for the legal fight.

"I can tell you first-hand we've had people stopping in our office
trying to drop off checks to promote the defense of this legislation
already," Rounds said.

Opponents of the bill argued that abortion should at least be allowed in
cases involving rape, incest and a threat to a women's health.

If a woman who is raped becomes pregnant, the rapist would have the same
rights to the child as the mother, said Krista Heeren-Graber, executive
director of the South Dakota Network Against Family Violence and Sexual
Assault.

"The idea the rapist could be in the child's life ... makes the woman
very, very fearful. Sometimes they need to have choice," Heeren-Graber
said.

Brokeback Blog: The Backlash leads me back to my Bible

March 2, 2006 -- The exclusive Christian high school Michelle Williams attended has bitterly disowned the Oscar-nominated star of "Brokeback Mountain" - saying it's deeply offended she appeared in the controversial gay-cowboy flick. "We don't want to have anything to do with her in relation to that movie," Jim Hopson, headmaster of the posh Santa Fe Christian School, told the San Diego Union Tribune. "Michelle doesn't represent the values of this institution . . . 'Brokeback Mountain' basically promotes a lifestyle we don't promote."
-Page Six

Promoting a lifestyle...see this is a major problem with letting str8's co-opt our stories and our lives. Should the stars of BM take on the struggle, or will they own it till Oscar day and not a moment after?

T-Shirt Maker Uses 'Brokeback Mountain' To Assail Gays
by 365Gay.com Newscenter Staff
(Miami, Florida) A Florida company known for its "faith-based" clothing line has begun distributing a T-shirt that uses "Brokeback Mountain" to condemn gays.

The T-shirts depict an angry Moses on Mount Sinai looking down on a group of ancient Israelites and modern gay cowboys who are dancing around an idol of the biblical Golden Calf.

The caption on the T-shirts reads "In his anger, Moses BROKE the two tablets of stone that the Ten Commandments were written on while walking BACK down the MOUNTAIN."

The T-shirts also bear the message "The Original 10 Commandments, BrokeBack on the Mountain".

The T-shirts are made by Second Coming Clothing Co.

"The message is the same now as it was at the time of Moses,” company CEO Rick Wade said in a statement, "that God’s covenant is broken with His people, God’s heart is broken for His people, and that judgment is coming prior to the return of the Lord, which is soon." - From Gay365

Blunt storms to top of the US chart

YAY!

James Blunt has become the first UK artist to hit Number One in the US singles chart for almost a decade.

His ballad You're Beautiful entered the US chart on Wednesday at the top spot.

The former Army captain has become the first UK artist to achieve the feat since Sir Elton John triumphed in the notoriously-difficult US charts in 1997.

You're Beautiful is said to have been written after the singer, who was a double winner at this year's Brits, saw his ex-girlfriend on a train with a new man.
