I am bereft at the news Trish Bendix isn't going to be publishing with AfterEllen.com, this after so much work on her part to make the space more welcoming to the bi, pan, fluid, queer (bi+) women that make up the majority of the LGBTQ women population.

And yes, let's come hard for the bisexual erasure that surrounds her departure too. For a media company to decide to shutter a major LGBTQ WOMEN'S OUTLET ON #BIVISIBILITYDAY sends a major message that bi women and their queer and lesbian allies/lovers/partners/friends are not valuable, valid and incredibly worth celebrating.
Guess what? According to national data, over 70% of the LGBTQ women population identify as bisexual and this week is #biweek and it's not even really gotten started yet...so you know what, the bisexuals are going to be coming for biphobia, lesphobia, transphobia, anti-womanness, shady ass shit and anything that would keep us from being free.
I'm sending love to the lesbians, sending love to the queer women, and trans women and bi women who all called afterellen.com home. The fight isn't over yet for a safe place for us all to land, so let's support Trish as she moves to her next gig, we'll need her with us every step of the way!
I'm proud to know Trish and I send her so much love.
TBH this photo was taken after some cray ish went down, but Trish? Trish is cool! |

Figure from lgbtmap.org with data on how many people are LGB. Remember trans, gender non conforming and non binary people have sexual orientations too! |
