"21 Jump Street" creator Stephen Cannell is hoping to lure Johnny Depp back to a screen version of the TV show.
Depp winced when he first heard the idea, but he told journalist Jesse Nash that despite past bitterness with Cannell, he could get into it if he played his character as an aging, washed-up hustler.
"Now that would be interesting," said Depp. "To go back and play the same character that I played 20 years ago with a bunch of people talking behind his back, going, 'He's out of his mind. He's really old now. But he thinks that he's really young.' That I would love to do."
But there's still a chilly air between the actor and Cannell. When Nash told Depp that his former boss spoke highly of him, Depp responded icily: "He didn't then."
